The hand work Aari
More on aariHooked chain stitch · fine florals
Aari is worked with a hooked needle from above the frame, producing fine chain stitch at a speed no ordinary needle can match. It gives dense, flowing florals without the weight of metal — the technique for pieces that must move.
- The frameFabric stretched, design traced.
- HookingThe hook goes down through the cloth, catches the thread underneath and pulls a loop back up. Each loop locks the last: a chain.
- DetailingBeads and sequins caught into the chain as it grows.
Moti Darbar was made for one body, in silk, for a reception. Nothing here is stock, so nothing here is sold out. Any piece can be made again in your size and your colour.
Asked about this piece
Can Moti Darbar be made in my size?
That is the only way it is made. Moti Darbar is not a stock piece waiting to be altered — it would be cut for you from your own measurements in silk. If you are in or near Vadodara that means fittings as the piece is built; if you are not, measurements are taken with you on a video call of about twenty minutes and the finished lehenga is couriered.
Can Moti Darbar be made in a different colour?
Yes. Aari is worked in fine thread, so a colour change is a change of thread and ground together, settled before the frame is set up. Tell us the colour you have in mind, or the one you are trying to sit beside, and we will work to it.
Is Moti Darbar still available to order?
Yes. Nothing in this studio is made in advance, so there is no stock to be out of — Baag A Bahar is a record of work, not a rack that empties. Aari is a hooked needle laying a chain stitch fine enough to draw with, which is what lets the florals hold their detail. Any piece photographed here can be made now, to your measure.
