For brides in Ahmedabad
Bridal lehengas, chaniya cholis and occasion wear cut to one body in the Vadodara studio — close enough that the fittings are a day out, not a journey.
Ahmedabad is about 110 km from the studio on Old Padra Road in Vadodara, which on the expressway is a comfortable day return. That matters more than it sounds: it means a bride in Ahmedabad can have the full made-to-measure process, with fittings in person as the piece is built, without staying a night anywhere. Measurements can also be taken on a video call, and the finished piece couriered, if travelling is difficult.
Ahmedabad is not short of places to buy a lehenga. It has the largest ready-made market in the state and some of it is very good. This page is for the bride who has walked that market and found the same problem everyone finds: the piece she loves is cut for somebody else, and altering it down is not the same as building it around her.
That is the whole difference here. Nothing in this studio is made in advance. A garment begins after you ask for it, from your measurements, and is fitted as it grows.
Close enough to be fitted properly
The expressway is the reason this works. Ahmedabad to Old Padra Road is a morning, not an expedition, which puts an Ahmedabad bride in the same position as a Vadodara one: she can be fitted three times as the piece is built, rather than measured once and hoped over.
Those three fittings are not ceremony. A bridal lehenga gains real weight as the hand embroidery goes on, and weight changes how a garment sits, where it pulls and how the skirt falls when you turn. Fitting a piece before the embroidery and never again is how it ends up beautiful on a hanger and wrong on a body. Being two hours away means you never have to accept that.
Most brides come once or twice and do everything else on WhatsApp. Some come for all three. Both are ordinary here.
Or not come at all
If the drive is difficult, none of it is compulsory. Measurements are taken with you on a WhatsApp video call of about twenty minutes — with you, not posted to you as a form, so a badly held tape is corrected while it is still in your hand. Progress photographs come to the same thread as the piece grows, and the finished garment is couriered to Ahmedabad.
This is not a lesser version of the service. A good share of the studio’s work goes to families in the US, UK, Canada and Australia who are never measured in person. A bride two hours away is a far easier problem than one on another continent.
What gets made for Ahmedabad families
Bridal lehengas, and the panetar and gharchola for the ceremony itself. Beyond the bride: her sister, the bridesmaids, the mothers and the men, which is the ordinary shape of an order here rather than an afterthought. Chaniya cholis for Navratri. Festive wear for Diwali.
Everything is hand-embroidered in the studio — zardozi, gota patti, aari, mirror work and bandhani — rather than sent out to whichever workshop was cheapest that month.
When to start
A bridal order runs four weeks at most start to finish, and carries roughly two hundred to six hundred hours of hand embroidery. Six to eight weeks before the wedding is comfortable. From November to February the studio is booked months ahead, so a Gujarati wedding season date wants deciding earlier than feels necessary.
If your date is closer than that, say so plainly and we will tell you plainly what is still possible.
From the collections
Every collectionQuestions from Ahmedabad
Do you make bridal lehengas for brides in Ahmedabad?
Yes. Ahmedabad is about 110 km from the studio in Vadodara and brides travel in regularly — it is a comfortable day return on the expressway. Everything is cut to your measurements and hand-embroidered in our own studio. If travelling is difficult, measurements are taken on a video call and the finished piece is couriered.
How many times will I have to travel to Vadodara?
Once or twice for most brides, and some come for all three fittings because the drive is easy. It can also be done without a single visit: the conversation happens on WhatsApp, measurements are taken together on a video call of about twenty minutes, and the piece is couriered to Ahmedabad.
Is there a Nirali Amin studio in Ahmedabad?
No. There is one studio, on Old Padra Road in Vadodara, and one designer. Everything that carries this name is cut and embroidered in that room. Brides come to it from Ahmedabad, or are fitted from Ahmedabad on a video call.
Why order from Vadodara when Ahmedabad has so many shops?
Because a shop sells you a garment that already exists and alters it to fit. This studio starts from your measurements and builds the piece around you, with the hand embroidery done here rather than bought in. Nothing is made in advance and nothing is made twice.
Can you courier to Ahmedabad?
Yes, anywhere in India. Tell us the date you need the piece in hand rather than the date of the wedding, so the courier is planned backwards from when you will actually wear it.
Can you dress the whole family for an Ahmedabad wedding?
Yes — the bride, her sister, the bridesmaids, the mothers, and the men and children. Several pieces due on one date needs more notice than one, so come to us early in the season rather than in the last fortnight.
