The strictest border, and the one worth budgeting for properly
Canada is the hardest of the four countries the studio ships to, and pretending otherwise would only mean a bride discovering it at her door. The duty-free limit is CAD $20 for anything arriving from outside the United States and Mexico — not a typo, and far below every other market here. Clothing duty then runs high, roughly 16–18%, and sales tax is added on top.
It is also the only market where the tax depends on where you live rather than what you bought. GST or HST runs between 5% and 15% by province, so the same lehenga costs a bride in Toronto and a bride in Calgary different amounts to receive. We would rather you knew the shape of that before you commit than be told afterwards that it was in the small print.

When to begin
The making is about twelve weeks. Canadian brides more than most tend to pair the order with a visit home — and if that visit is planned for a Canadian winter, remember that flights around Christmas and the new year fill early and that Gujarat in December is pleasant. If you are coming, tell us the dates and we will build the fittings around them; if you are not, nothing about the process changes.

What will customs cost on a lehenga shipped to Canada?
Canada is the strictest of the countries we ship to most. The duty-free limit is only CAD $20 for parcels from outside the US and Mexico, clothing duty runs to roughly 16–18%, and GST or HST of 5–15% is added depending on your province. Budget properly for it, and ask us before you commit so there is no surprise at the door.
Why does my friend in Alberta pay less than I do in Ontario?
Because the sales tax is provincial. GST or HST runs between 5% and 15% depending where the parcel lands, so the same piece genuinely costs different amounts to receive in different provinces. The duty portion does not change; the tax on top does.
Can I be fitted without flying to India?
Yes, and most Canadian brides are. Measurements are taken with you on a WhatsApp video call, in about twenty minutes. If you are visiting family in Gujarat anyway, a single studio visit is welcome — many Canadian brides pair the order with a winter trip home — but it is never a requirement.
Can you remake my mother’s lehenga if it is in Canada?
Yes. Send photographs first and we will tell you honestly what can be saved — the hand embroidery usually can, the fabric around it sometimes cannot. It travels to us and back, so factor the customs on the return leg into your thinking, and ask us before you post anything.
