Bandhani is not embroidery. Thousands of tiny points are tied by hand before the cloth meets the dye, and the dye cannot reach them. Untied, they leave constellations of white. Genuine bandhani has slightly irregular dots; the irregularity is the signature of the hand.

Can Laal Chunari be made in my size?
That is the only way it is made. Laal Chunari is not a stock piece waiting to be altered — it would be cut for you from your own measurements in premium silk. If you are in or near Vadodara that means fittings as the piece is built; if you are not, measurements are taken with you on a video call of about twenty minutes and the finished chaniya choli is couriered.
Can Laal Chunari be made in a different colour?
Yes. This one is different from the embroidered pieces: bandhani is tied dot by dot and then dyed, so the colour goes into the cloth before it is ever cut. It has to be settled at the very start. Tell us the colour you have in mind, or the one you are trying to sit beside, and we will work to it.
Is Laal Chunari still available to order?
Yes. Nothing in this studio is made in advance, so there is no stock to be out of — Rang Raas is a record of work, not a rack that empties. Bandhani is tie-resist dye from Kutch and Saurashtra — thousands of points tied by hand before the cloth meets dye, which is why no two lengths are identical.
