What the photographs show

Skirts in mustard and brown with white hems and red panels; yellow, blue and red panels; red with pink panels; dark green with red; a black dupatta bright with sequins; coral with dark green. The set is painted and warm — yellow walls, a green door studded with red bosses, painted village scenes — and the portraits are made against marigold garlands and hanging ornaments.
