Jodhpur, the Blue City

Below Mehrangarh Fort, the old city of Jodhpur is washed in blue, house after house, so that a doorway or a rooftop looks out over a field of it. Fiori was photographed there and around it: in blue-washed and terracotta-pink doorways, on a rooftop above the old city, beneath a carved pavilion hung with bougainvillea, and on a palace lawn with a horse.

What the photographs show

Deep green with gold embroidery in a pink stone doorway; olive and gold with dark cut-outs against a blue wall; lilac and violet lehengas; maroon and wine; powder blue and teal; a copper-brown lehenga beneath the flowers and a rust-red one beside it. Two brides pose together in green, three stand along a blue balcony, and a groom in olive stands beside a bride in the same tone.

Choosing from it

Jewel colours and gold hold their own against blue — Fiori shows it on doorways and rooftops. Against white marble, a garden or a palace the same greens and maroons read differently, which is worth seeing on a swatch in daylight before you decide.
